Pilates for men
Is Pilates good for men?
Why wouldn't it be? Pilates was started by one man, Joseph Pilates, and has been an important part of the training of many elite athletes for many years. There are many examples of elite athletes in football, ice hockey, golf, tennis, basketball, swimming, etc. who use Pilates as a supplementary form of exercise.
Pilates is one of the fastest growing fitness trends in the world and men definitely benefit greatly from Pilates' many benefits.
Why Pilates Works Well for Men
Pilates works with functional training which is the ability to gain strength, balance and flexibility – all of which characterize Pilates training and are very relevant to men's fitness.
Pilates emphasizes strength in the center of the body, it is powerful and develops core strength in the deep muscles to stabilize the trunk and strengthen the back.
There is nothing specifically different about pilates training for men. The Pilates Method is the same for everyone. Pilates is based on healthy movement principles for the body in general. Men may find that their muscles are a little tighter than women's, especially in the hips and legs, but exercises can be easily modified to allow these areas to stretch gradually. Modification of exercises is common in Pilates so that it can meet different needs in practice.
Classical Pilates is defined as the science and art of coordinating body and mind to achieve total fitness. You use your own body as well as the resistance of springs to perform a series of movements that are linked together in an efficient transition, which is adapted to your needs.

Ever since, I have been hooked on Pilates as I have seen a huge difference in my body awareness, range of movement and being able to activate my core to protect my back."
