Classic Pilates
Classical Pilates is defined as the science and art of coordinating body and mind to achieve total fitness. Classic Pilates is an effective full-body workout that was published by Joseph Hubertus Pilates over half a century ago in his famous book, Back to life through contrology. His outstanding conditioning and technique were decades ahead of his time and he is now recognized as one of the original pioneers of health and fitness. All the exercises that Joseph Pilates himself performed and taught are called classical. Everything is in writings, films and audio recordings.
You use your body as well as the resistance of springs to perform a series of movements that are linked together in an efficient transition. These exercises are adapted to your needs. The movements stimulate muscles, tendons and organs and are intended to strengthen the body, improving strength, flexibility, balance, posture and coordination. Pilates is good for everyone regardless of age and training background. The training will improve your ability in sports such as golf and tennis and improve all other daily activities. Pilates is not just "exercise" but a complete body workout that gives you a feeling of both physical and mental well-being.
All exercises contain Pilates' 6 basic principles:
- Centering/Stabilising
- Control
- Concentration
- Flow efficiency in movement
- Breath
- Precision
Pilates has been approved by doctors all over the world and is also used as a form of physical therapy. Joseph H. Pilates created the exercise on the mat to later develop specially designed apparatus. As Joseph Pilates himself said:
"You'll feel better after 10 lessons, look better after 20 lessons, and have a whole new body after 30 lessons."

Testimonials
"I have been diagnosed with disc herniation in the lower back. I was recommended surgery but my Physiotherapist suggested Pilates to build strength in my core to avoid surgery. Ever since, I have been hooked on Pilates as I have seen a huge difference in my body awareness, range of movement and being able to activate my core to protect my back."
"I have lived with chronic inflammation and joint pain for many years. The training offered at Classic Pilates Malmö has been an important part in becoming free from both pain and medications."
